June, a Landscape Architect and international equestrian and Jim, a Chartered Surveyor, bought the 300 year old April Cottage at Ballygraffan in 1998 and started creating their stable yard. They fell totally in love with the landscape, the views and the atmosphere. Now that June is getting longer in the tooth, both she and her horses are taking life easier and she decided to open up this unique slice of Co. Down to allow others to enjoy the amazing feeling she gets every morning when she wakes up, hears the birds singing and looks out over Strangford Lough.
Her aim is for guests to take a deep breath and relax from the moment they arrive. There is plenty to occupy visitors whether it be exploring the natural beauty of the farm, the on-site Neolithic burial mound, chilling with the horses and donkeys, or visiting the nearby tourist attractions and great eating establishments. Alternatively, they can simply relax in the unique accommodation she has created.
Looking for an excuse to come back.
Great accommodation. Great place.
Thank you for allowing us to stay at your beautiful home. It was the perfect bolthole to explore Co. Down from and so close to the wedding. We’ll be back soon.
This has got to be the most beautiful and relaxing place I have ever been to. I took a deep breath, as you said, every time I looked out over the view. It looked even better from the balcony with a glass of wine!
The whole place is an oasis of calm. I loved Maurice’s stable.
