Bigger and Better than ever…
The Ballygraffan International Horse Trials
DATE: Friday, 28th – Saturday, 29th APRIL 2006
LOCATION: Ballygraffan, Comber, Co. Down
Riding on the success of recently winning the Eventing Ireland Media
Award for the ‘Best Event in Ireland 2005’, The Ballygraffan
International Horse Trials (BIHT) are back bigger and better than ever,
on the Friday, 28th & Saturday, 29th April 2006. Year on year not
only has the course been improved by internationally renowned designer
and course builders, Hugh Lochore and the Willis Brothers, of Badminton
and Olympic fame; but also the crowds of visitors have continued to increase.
Ballygraffan International Horse Trials provide a great day out for all
the family and equestrian enthusiasts alike. The 2-day event will feature
Dressage and Show Jumping on Friday 28th April followed by Cross-Country
on Saturday 29th April, featuring displays of speed, agility and pure
performance by local and international riders. This year will see the
addition of a new Market Village area catering for all tastes; it will
include quality bites and gift shopping.
Located in the Strangford Lough Conservation Area in the picturesque
undulating drumlin country of Co. Down, riders will compete in CIC*, CIC**
and Sportsman Class, across a 2.5 mile course. One of the beauties of
the setting is that there are several prime positions for the public to
get a great view of the proceedings.
“We are delighted with the success of this event, it really
has gone from strength to strength. It was great to have so many visitors
last year, and this year we are making every effort to make it even better
for the public attending. With some of the best overseas riders challenging
the cream of Irish talent, it will be a very exciting of the event”
June Burgess, Landowner & Host
