Press Releases23 June 2008 NORTHERN IRELAND HORSE BOARD TO SPONSOR 4-YEAR OLD CLASSES AT FEHL QUALIFIERThe Future Event Horse League (FEHL) and the team at Ballygraffan are delighted that the Northern Ireland Horse Board (NIHB) will be sponsoring the 4-year old classes at the FEHL Qualifier at Ballygraffan on Wednesday 23rd July this year. As the first sponsor on board NIHB will present an embroidered rug to the winner of this class who will then go on to represent the qualifier at the Young Event Horse Class at the Royal Dublin Horse Show. The competition which is open to all 4 and 5 year-old Irish bred horses, requires them to complete a ridden test that will be judged by a dressage judge and then a second judge will award marks for overall suitability. Riders will then present their horse ‘in-hand’ to a confirmation judge and finally jump a Derby style course that will consist of fixed cross-country type obstacles and also knockable fences. This section will also have two judges, one assessing the overall jumping potential and the second as per show jumping. However, at the end of the competition a Speed Derby will be held for
horses of 6-years and over. This will be run over the five-year old course
with the winner receiving 50% of the class entry fees. Last year rivalry
was fierce as each combination produced a round faster than the previous
one, and provided a great deal of fun for both riders and spectators.
Entries for this class are on the field.
